How did you both meet?

We met on the online dating app Tinder.

How was the proposal?

Marcus planned a trip to Grand Teton National Park with our families. After we got there, he proposed in front of the Teton mountains.

What was your wedding inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc)

The ceremony was inspired by our love for National Parks and the great outdoors. For the reception, we wanted to create The Great Movie ride because we wanted our guests to be a part of a show and be entertained. Additionally, we transported our guests to an Old Hollywood club where they were able to watch our dancers perform a number from Indiana Jones Temple of Doom. Lastly, they watched us recreate a lightsaber battle from Star Wars and waltz to a Cinderella ballroom scene.

What was your favorite design element of your wedding?

First, the warblers (Birds). Secondly, all the Old Hollywood Décor, and also our Chuppah.

Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them.

We loved the chuppah because it was decorated like a forest, and we love National Parks. Also, we both love science, so we did a science experiment for our unity ceremony. Additionally, Denise from Dogwood Blossom Stationery & Invitation Studio created a personal template for all our stationary items that incorporated our favorite bird, the warbler, which is Anna’s nickname. The curtain was a perfect detail to our old Hollywood feel. Marcus’ bowtie was made out of bird feathers to represent our love for birds. I chose my dress because it looked royal and reminded me of Princess Eugenie’s dress and I wanted something more traditional. Finally, we wanted to incorporate a wide variety of species of plants because Anna teaches botany and for fun we enjoy identifying plants together.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

The most memorable moment of our wedding day was reading our vows to each other. We wrote the entire ceremony ourselves and it ended up being very personal and fun to perform.

Please describe your cake (if any):

The cake had the invitation details on it that Denise created. It had the warbler, flowers, and gold detailing.

Have the details planned out well ahead of time so you and your planner have time to book all the necessary vendors and get the perfect detailing down.

What was your biggest surprise on your wedding day?

The biggest surprise was how magnificently decorated everything was by Annie.

What one moment will last with you both forever?

Being able to perform our lightsaber battle and dance perfectly. We worked on our dance for many months, and it was exciting to see it all come together in such a beautiful ballroom in front of everyone we love.

What song did you walk down the aisle to?

For Marcus, it was “The Imperial March” (Darth Vader Song): By John Williams. For Anna it was “The Bridal Chorus” (Here Comes the Bride) : By Richard Wagner.

What song played for your first dance?

The first dance was a mixture of a lightsaber battle and a waltz. There were 3 songs. First, it was “Duel of the Fates” By John Williams (Lightsaber battle). Second, “A New Hope End Credits” By John Williams (Between battle and dance). Third, “La Valse de L’Amour” by Patrick Doyle (Waltz).

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

We look forward to creating stronger bonds and making new memories.

What did you like the most about working with KV Photography?

First off, we knew we had to work with KV from the moment we saw their work. Also, Val and Ed are true artists, and we were excited to see how they were going to use their talent on our special day. But what we liked most about working with them was how comfortable they made us feel. From the moment they walked in the door they were kind and fun to be around. I (Anna) had such a good time talking with Val all morning while I got ready. It was also exciting to share a love of Stars Wars with them. Words cannot describe how appreciative we were of their advice to us on this very eventful day. Most importantly, both Val and Ed know how weddings work and made sure to remind us to enjoy every moment.
