How did you both meet?

We first met when we were kids on the tennis court in Atlanta, GA. Over the years, we kept in touch as friends, and although time and distance kept us apart, fate couldn’t. We reconnected in San Jose, California, in the Summer of 2018 while on a work trip. We didn’t know it then, but those few days in Northern California would become the first dates of many.

How did your husband propose?

Jarmere surprised Jordan with a trip to Aruba for her birthday. After he discovered that Jordan’s parents visited the same hotel for their 15th anniversary, he came up with a plan. The two took a sunset walk on the beach, reflecting on what a fantastic trip it had been. During the conversation, Jarmere got down on one knee and asked Jordan to marry him, to which she said yes!

What was your wedding inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc.)

We wanted the wedding to feel cozy, romantic, inspiring, and fun. Also, we wanted to draw these elements with a secret garden that meets an Italian countryside theme. Our focus was on using greenery, candles, and lighting to create this magical vibe. We wanted our wedding to feel like we were taking our family and friends through a journey that revealed love, magic, and beauty along the way.

What was your favorite design element of your wedding?

Our favorite design element was our wedding invitation, wedding weekend stationary, and color scheme. Allison from Hand-Painted Weddings created the most beautiful wedding stationery that truly embodied everything we were looking for in terms of overall feel and theme.

Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them?

Our favorite details were the greenery, lighting, and candles. Both of us knew we wanted the lighting to bring out the natural beauty of our venue and the feel of the room. We had hanging light globes with silk greenery wrapped around the wires to create the feel of a secret garden. We loved using crystal candlesticks and floating candles to cast a romantic glow and brighten up our lush green centerpiece, dotted with jewel-toned colors.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

The ceremony. Seeing each other walk down the aisle, standing there in front of the people we love, and professing our love to each other will always be a magical moment.

Please describe your cake (if any):

We had a beautiful cake made by Sprinkles, Inc. Richard and his team designed a beautiful two-tiered vanilla raspberry swirl with cream cheese, and raspberry filling topped with smooth white and blush buttercream icing and floral décor.

Any advice for those planning their wedding now?

Hire a local vendor and if your wedding venue offers preferred vendors, take those vendors into strong consideration! They are preferred for a reason. It is helpful to work with a team who is familiar with your venue. It will go a long way in bringing your vision for your wedding to life.

What was your biggest surprise on your wedding day?

The father and daughter choreographed dance sparked the dance floor like no other. It was the performance of the century. We also had a choreographed bride and groom first dance that was so special!

What one moment will last with you both forever?

Our final dance before leaving the venue. Once everyone cleared the reception room to prepare for our sparkler send-off, we got the reception room to ourselves. To have a final dance, so intimate and private to be able to hold on to each another on the final moments of the evening and soak in the entire day, was so special. We didn’t get any alone time during the whole day, and to share that moment was very special.

What song did you walk down the aisle to?

Groom’s Song: Love by Kendrick Lamar. Processional & Bride’s Song: Adante by Roy Todd.

What song played for your first dance?

We had three songs compiled into one beautiful ensemble! “I can’t stop loving you” by Kem, “Rather be” by Clean Bandit & Jess Glynne, “Rather be” by HER.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

Growing old together and starting a family.

What did you like the most about working with KV Photography?

Val & Ed were incredibly talented at making us feel seen and understood. Ed could tell I (the groom) was a bit stiff and nervous; his jokes loosened me up and helped me to relax in the moment. Val knew precisely where and when to capture every special moment. Her calm, cool, collective energy was everything and more. Val and Ed came early and stayed late; they went over and beyond on every aspect of our wedding journey; from our engagement shoot to our wedding weekend, we could not have asked for better photographers!
