How did you both meet?

Alan and I met in class his last semester of college. The class centered around a large group project, and Alan asked me to be in his group. Our third team member never showed up to our meetings, giving Alan and I plenty of time alone to get to know each other, and the rest is history!

How did your husband propose?

We got scuba certified in Fall of 2019 and planned a trip to Belize to dive their barrier reef. Alan proposed on the beach at sunset after our first day of diving. It was perfect!

What was your wedding inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc.)

Our wedding inspiration was rustic elegance.

What was your favorite design element of your wedding?

Instead of traditional round tables scattered around the room, we arranged long rectangular tables into “pods”, with 4 tables centered around a large tree centerpiece. I loved the way this filled the space visually and allowed our guests to interact with more people than just being confined to their table.

Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them?

We wanted to create an ambience of “bringing the outside to the inside”. We had 8-foot trees created and scattered throughout the ballroom, and a canopy of string lights across the ceiling. Our guests loved the engraved wooden chips which served as the place cards but doubled as a cool gift for attendees. I also loved the emerald velvet napkins which gave an elegant touch to the table settings. To add to the winter wedding vibe, we finished off the night with a Hot Cocoa station, with Baileys and assorted desserts.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

Getting to see our friends and family members from all the different facets of our life come together and enjoy a wonderful night.

Please describe your cake (if any):

Our cake was a simple tiered cake with green and white pastel frosting flowers.

Can you please list your vendors:

Any advice for those planning their wedding now?

Don’t sweat the small stuff. If you won’t be upset about it in a year from now, don’t let it ruin the fun of wedding planning today.

What was your biggest surprise on your wedding day?

That I didn’t cry walking down the aisle, but Alan did!

What one moment will last with you both forever?

Our first look.

What song did you walk down the aisle to?

Canon in D

What song played for your first dance?

Nothing Can Change This Love, by Sam Cooke.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

Building a family & life together, and finally getting to take that covid-cancelled honeymoon!

What did you like the most about working with KV Photography?

KV is easy to work with, makes everyone feel comfortable, and has an artistic eye for wedding photography. An overall pleasure to spend time with KV on such a special day!
