How did you both meet?

Through mutual friends at the University of Central Florida. Ryan played hockey with my sorority sister’s boyfriend. Our friends took us to a college bar one night our freshman year because they didn’t want to go out alone. Later on, we met and the rest is history.

How did your husband propose?

He planned a perfect day on a hot air balloon and had my entire family in town for the surprise. Ryan & I were watching my coworker’s dog that weekend and the dog got very sick. So, we had to take her to an emergency vet, which completely ruined Ryan’s plans. We didn’t leave the vet until 9pm, but my family was already in town, so he had them come to our house and hide out back. After that, he called me out to our backyard, got down on one knee and surprised me with a proposal.

What was your wedding inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc.)

Rustic/earthy look & feel, lots of dusty, neutral tones and greenery.

What was your favorite design element of your wedding?

I loved the floral details everywhere! From my bouquet and the ceremony arch to the tall arrangements on our family tables. Also, our sweetheart table and backdrop at the reception. Especially loved the pampas grass!

Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them?

Everything I just listed above. I spent a lot of time searching Pinterest, and I found little things I liked here and there. Then, I took all my likes and dislikes to my talented vendors; Annie and Raining Roses especially, and they brought that vision to life.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

Reading our letters to each other during our first touch.

Please describe your cake (if any):

Tall, simple, classy and elegant. It was white with floral touches from our florist to pull the look together. We selected three different flavors; marble with cannoli filling, strawberry with strawberry preserves and cinnamon with apple filling that tasted like apple pie. Each just as delicious as the next.

Any advice for those planning their wedding now?

Don’t let all the unexpected things that come your way, like COVID, ruin your wedding planning experience. Get to know your vendors and trust them. Loving them as much as we did make it feel like we had extra wedding guests. Wedding planners make life so much easier, especially if you’re planning during the pandemic. Let your family and your bridal party help you. Give the groom assignments, no matter if he doesn’t know how to do something wedding related. Delegating saved my sanity.

What was your biggest surprise on your wedding day?

The extremely talented live painter.

What one moment will last with you both forever?

After reading our letters to each other, being introduced for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. Haleski.

What song did you walk down the aisle to?

A Thousand Years by Christina Perri played in violin

What song played for your first dance?

Prayed for You by Matt Still played in violin

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

Home projects, traveling once the world reopens and building a family.

What did you like the most about working with KV Photography?

Getting to know Ed and Val. They’re a beautiful couple, and they are so passionate about what they do; capturing love. I saw so much of us in them, and hope others think Ryan and I are as kind, warm and wonderful as they are! They have personalities that could make even the shyest bride and groom feel comfortable.
