Mackenzie & Matt | The Mulberry | Orlando Wedding Photographer
How did you both meet?
Matt and I met while working at Texas Roadhouse in Orange City, FL. He was a server, and I was hostess. I became good friends with some of my coworkers and Matt happened to be in the same circle. After hanging out a couple times, Matt finally asked me out for our first date.
How did your husband propose?
In 2018, we planned a weekend away in Tampa with my mom, my stepdad, Matt’s mom, Matt, and I. My parents got to Tampa a night before Matt, his mom, and I. Later, we were driving down the day of the concert to meet them for lunch. When we got to the Tampa River Walk, I was very confused when I suddenly saw my family and friends. By the time I could ask Matt what was going, he was down on his knee. It was such a beautiful location surrounded by all the people I loved the most.
What was your wedding inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc.)
Matt and I knew from the beginning that we wanted a venue that was able to hold the ceremony, the cocktail hour, and the reception. We did not want people to have to stress over driving to multiple locations. We wanted the day to just be a huge party. When we found The Mulberry at New Smyrna Beach, we felt as if it were built for us. The farmhouse chic look was right up my alley. To me, less is more, and I knew that I didn’t need to do much to The Mulberry because it is a statement on its own.
What was your favorite design element of your wedding?
My favorite design element was the pop of color throughout the venue. The light blue flowers mixed with my bouquet and the flower arrangements up at the alter were amazing. Also, we had the light blue linens on the tables complimenting the gold chargers, gold flatware, gold lanterns, and gold table numbers. Everything mixed with the greenery down the tables looked incredible.
Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them?
My favorite wedding detail was my bouquet. I used a piece of lace from my mom’s wedding dress to wrap around the base of my bouquet; that was used as my something old. My something borrowed was my grandmother’s gold cross from her necklace that I have never seen her without. I had the gold cross pinned on the front of the base of my bouquet. It was so special to have held those two important things while walking down the aisle.
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
The most memorable moment was the dance that Matt and I shared alone while everyone was waiting for us to exit. That dance is something I will never forget. There was so much emotion just thinking about how lucky we are to have a love like we do.
Please describe your cake (if any):
Our cake was inspired by a picture I saw on Pinterest. It was a white 3-tiered cake with flakes of gold on the edge of the tiers and some greenery wrapped around the entire cake. Each tier was a different flavor. The base was a yellow cake with a raspberry filling. The middle tier was a chocolate cake with a chocolate filling, and the top tier was a red velvet cake with a cream cheese filling.

Any advice for those planning their wedding now?
Best advice that I can give anyone planning a wedding is to get a day of coordinator! Having Melanie there to control the entire day was amazing. It makes things stress-free on the wedding day. Another piece of advice would be to plan way ahead of time! I started planning almost two years ahead of time, so I was able to get the best vendors; and the exact ones that I wanted.
What was your biggest surprise on your wedding day?
The biggest surprise was how my stepdad reacted during our first look. That moment was so emotional and beautiful. Rob and I have been through a lot over the years and to have the relationship that we do is a blessing. I am so honored that he was able to marry Matt and I.
What one moment will last with you both forever?
I must go back the last dance that Matt and I had alone. Anytime we hear the song that we danced to; we instantly get brought back into that moment.
What song did you walk down the aisle to?
An instrumental acoustic version of A Thousand Years by Christina Perri
What song played for your first dance?
My Best Friend by Tim McGraw
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?
We are really looking forward to being husband and wife. We can’t wait to create amazing memories as a married couple and one day start a beautiful family of our own.
What did you like the most about working with KV Photography?
We loved everything about working with you guys! From the stunning photographs that you captured to the completely relaxed and fun environment that you created while doing so. Sometimes photos can look forced or fake, but with you guys, the laughing and smiling that you see in our photos is so genuine. It was an absolute dream to have you to be the ones to photograph our wedding.
