The Alfond Inn Wedding | Melissa and Mike | Orlando Wedding Photographer

How did you both meet?

On February 8, 2015, mutual friends invited us both to The Ivy in Buckhead, GA, for mimosas and brunch. We didn’t get to talk much that day, but after I left, Mike asked the mutual friends for my phone number.  After a couple of weeks of calls and texts (and food poisoning from ramen), we went on our first date on February 23, 2015 to Barcelona Wine Bar in Inman Park…and the rest is history.

How did your husband propose?

The engagement happened on September 30th in the most perfect setting…inside our new home at our dining room table over a bottle of wine. We were joined by friends later that evening to celebrate.

What was your wedding inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc)

I knew I wanted something very glamourous and Hollywood-like.  I found some great pictures from one girl’s wedding on Pinterest, and I copied a lot of the aspects from that!.

What was your favorite design element of your wedding?

I loved how the red and pink flowers popped against the gold glitter of the bridesmaid dresses.

Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them.
As mentioned, I copied them LOL.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

Walking with my dad down the aisle, and looking up to see Mike’s big smile as I was heading his way.  Also, our first dance and the fact that we did the “dip” without him dropping me.

Please describe your cake (if any):

The cake was stunning!  Over the top, really.  I loves the touches of gold to tie it into the theme, and the different tiers had different flavors.  I specifically wanted Red Velvet cake to be in there since that was the cake I would get for my birthday every year in my childhood.  But the cake also had a layer with Amaretto and it was to die for.  We saved part of that to eat at a later date.

Can you please list your vendors:

KV photography, Weddings in the City (planner), Atmospheres (floral), Perfect Sky (videographer), White Rose (DJ)…am I missing anyone?  Obviously the Alfond, too.

Any advice for those planning their wedding now?

Take time about a week before the wedding to spend a day or two just hanging out with each other with no talk of the upcoming wedding.  You need that time to decompress since this is usually the more stressful time.  Also, everyone told us that the wedding would go by so fast so make sure to take in the moments.  Because we heard that so many times, we made a concerted effort to stop and “smell the roses” through that whole day and evening.  We don’t feel like it flew by because we took the time to soak in the special moments.

What was your biggest surprise on your wedding day?
The archway falling over in the wind right as I turned the corner down the aisle!  But it actually made me laugh a little and helped to stop the tears while I walked down the aisle!  I was also pretty surprised that Mike bought me that knot bracelet.  That was a special moment.

What one moment will last with you both forever?

The kiss to seal the deal.  And the first dance.  And probably the wedding selfie!

Which moment are you the most excited to see in photos?

The dip from the first dance!.

What song did you walk down the aisle to?

“Marry Me” by Train

What song played for your first dance?

“XO” by John Mayer

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

Starting a family…immediately.

What did you like the most about working with KV Photography?
It was effortless to work with you.  You made everything easy when I was so stressed about everything else.  You gave me guidance and took the reigns to get the right pictures without me having to say anything.  I truly appreciated that.  And the pictures speak for themselves.  You captured everything I wanted and more, and in a beautiful fashion.
