How did you both meet?
Damon and I met at Brooklyn Winery in Brooklyn, NY. We were both working weddings.
How did your husband propose?
Damon surprised me at work the day before my birthday. I thought he was surprising me for my birthday day the entire time. He took me to Hillstone Restaurant here in Winter Park and took me to the back and when I turned the corner I saw a beautifully decorated patio right on the water at sunset. Candles, his moms crochet table cloth and white roses everywhere. I am still thinking he is just doing something sweet for my birthday because he is very much romantic, then our conversation started to take a turn and that’s when I started to wonder and then all of a sudden he got down on one knee. It was an unforgettable moment!.
What was your wedding inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc.)
Our wedding inspiration was to have a Spring New England wedding with a touch of rich antique decor and setting.
What was your favorite design element of your wedding?
Damon and I instantly feel in love with our venue the moment we walked in and saw all the natural light lighting up this beautiful historic ballroom in a charming town that I grew up in. The entire space really reflected both our personalities from all the windows bringing in natural light to the lobby filled with antique furniture to the beautiful atrium filled with flowers and plants everywhere. There wasn’t much else we really need to add to the space to make it even more beautiful. It was very much perfect for us.
Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them.
I absolutely loved our ceremony location inside the church I grew up in and having our very dear friends from Brooklyn sing and play his dulcimer instrument as I walked down the aisle to Damon. It was a very special moment for me and it was absolutely perfect.
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
The most memorable moment for me was when the doors opened at the ceremony and I saw Damon for the first time.
Please describe your cake (if any):
Haha the cake was an interesting experience. What I envisioned and what I actually got were very different, haha. What I wanted for a 4-tier cake were 4 different flavors. I somehow got a cake with a pink ombre color for the inside and the outside was supposed to be a soft washed out pink and what I ended up getting was a barbie pink wedding cake. lol It was still beautiful but definitely not what I asked for.
Can you please list your vendors:
KV Photography, Forget Me Not Florist, Greggory’s Pastry Shop for the cake, Elmwood Forest Productions for my videographer, The Collection Bridal for my dress and my mom’s dress, David’s bridal for my bridesmaids, Maria Elena for Jewelry, Bayhill Jewelers for my wedding bands and Damon’s band, Hugo Boss for Damon’s suit.
Any advice for those planning their wedding now?
Plan a destination wedding, it’s far less expensive and less stressful. 🙂 I’m honestly very happy with the way everything turned out. It was a perfect day!.
What was your biggest surprise on your wedding day?
How beautiful the weather turned out to be. I was really shocked and lucky that it never rained!.
What one moment will last with you both forever?
The entire day will last with me forever. It will always be a day that everyone that we love and cherish traveling afar to be apart of our special day. It was the most love I’ve ever felt and I know our guests could feel our love back.
Which moment are you the most excited to see in photos?
We are excited to see all our family and friends’ pictures as well as our hour long session with just us. I know it was longer than normal so I’m excited to see all the shots that were taken.
What song did you walk down the aisle to?
Kurt Vile, Stand Inside.
What song played for your first dance?
INXS, Never Tear Us Apart
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?
To have free time again and work on our new home that we purchased last summer!.
What did you like the most about working with KV Photography?
We love how easy going you both are and how you have an artist approach to your work which makes it unique and different from the traditional wedding pictures that I have seen. You guys are the best !
