Casa Feliz Wedding | Ashley and Colin | Winter Park Weddings
How did you both meet?
Colin and I met on a very cold night in Brooklyn. His good friend Zach asked me and my girlfriend to come into a bar down the street. Colin was there waiting by the door, he introduced himself and we hit it off right away!.
How did your husband propose?
Colin and I were renovating his grandparents house in Indiana. On our last night there he took my hand and led me through a field next to a specific tree (It was a dogwood tree that his Grandfather had planted for his Grandmother) He told me that his Grandparents had a love and a connection that Colin had always hoped to have with his wife someday. He pulled out the ring from his pocket and said this is the same ring that my Grandfather proposed to my Grandmother with, she wore this ring for 76 blissful years and if you’ll be my wife I hope you’ll wear it for the next 80.
What was your wedding inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc)
Our Venue, Casa Feliz really shaped the vision for our wedding. We wanted it to be intimate with a European secret garden feel. The venue didn’t need much, Just a few flowers and candles to add a little romance and wedding day magic.
What was your favorite design element of your wedding?
The floral arrangements were stunning!.
Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them.
We got a lot of inspiration from Pinterest. We wanted to keep it simple and elegant.
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
We both loved the “First look”. The day was about celebrating our love together and it was important for both of us to have that moment to connect before the ceremony.
Please describe your cake (if any):
Our cake was a small three tiered cake. The bottom tier was teal that gradually faded to white towards the top and the top tier was dusted with gold. Each layer had a different flavor. The top tier was for Colin (Peanut butter with chocolate fudge) The second tier was chocolate cake with raspberry filling and chocolate fudge and the third tier was a white almond flavored cake with chocolate custard … Delicious !!
Can you please list your vendors:
Photographers: KV Photography, Flowers and Candles: Velvet and Twine, Cake: Sprinkles, DJ and Lighting: A – List Entertainment (Asher), Tent: Orlando wedding party rentals, Food: Arthurs Catering.
Any advice for those planning their wedding now?
Everyone has a budget when planning a wedding but when it comes down to it you get what you pay for. Don’t cut corners on the really important vendors (Photographer, DJ, Food) It seems like a big splurge in the moment but looking back you’ll be so happy you didn’t settle for less.
What was your biggest surprise on your wedding day?
A week before our wedding we started checking the weather. It showed scattered thunderstorms all day so Colin made a last minute decision to get a tent. Casa Feliz is such a gorgeous venue and the last thing I wanted was a hideous tent blocking the view. Much to my surprise the tent was more beautiful than I had imagined, it even added a touch of whimsey.
What one moment will last with you both forever?
The entire day was so incredible, its hard to pick a specific moment. It meant so much to both of us to have everyone we love, together, celebrating our marriage.
Which moment are you the most excited to see in photos?
We cant wait to see the candid shots taken throughout the night! Something tells us we’re going to get a good laugh and possibly a few sentimental tears.
What song did you walk down the aisle to?
Moon Glow (Instrumental)
What song played for your first dance?
Moon Glow – By Tony Bennet and K.D. Lang
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?
We’re looking forward to traveling, finding adventure and starting a family together.
What did you like the most about working with KV Photography?
We loved how detailed and attentive they are. They made us feel comfortable in front of the camera and even when they had us pose for a picture it never felt forced.
