How did you both meet?
Short story: Brandon was managing the bar at a restaurant in Hoboken, where we both lived. I went with a friend of mine and we chatted it up, he came out dancing with us and that was it!
Long version:
Stacy decided to get some wine out at a local Hoboken restaurant, Zack’s Oak Bar, with a friend of hers. The friend knew the bartender so it would be free wine! Stacy and the bartender, Brandon, chatted all night, and at the end of the night, Stacy invited Brandon to go dancing with them. He, being the “best dancer in Hoboken” agreed to join them.
They had a fun night out, exchanged numbers and talked about hanging out again the next night. The next day, Brandon golfed with Kais, who could tell something was different about him and all Brandon said was, “I met a girl.”
They met up Saturday night at Willie McBride’s in Hoboken for more dancing. Brandon walked Stacy home and she admits that’s when she fell for him.
Brandon called Stacy on Sunday night to go out on a proper dinner date that week for…Mexican. He knew the way to her heart.
How did your husband propose?
Stacy’s birthday weekend, Labor Day, 2016 (over 6 years after we started dating), they went to the beach (Cocoa Beach) with Nina & Steve (Stacy’s mom & dad). Brandon wanted to go for a walk to the pier, so off they went. At the end of the pier, Brandon started saying really nice things to Stacy and eventually got down on one knee and proposed! A few people noticed and clapped, and Stacy couldn’t stop laughing & crying.
What was your wedding inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc)
Outdoor classy but fun cocktail party. Greenery, whites, hot pink from flowers, blushes and lots of candles. The venue brought the beachy vibe as well.
What was your favorite design element of your wedding?
Loved the mismatched blush bridesmaid dresses, and how it coordinated with the blush undertone of my dress and our flowers – white, with greenery and bright pink. I also loved my rose-gold sequined table cloths on the accent tables. One of my favorite things ended up being our flower arch at the ceremony.
Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them.
Some noted above regarding the decor – rose gold sequins & spots of bright pink color in the flowers. I had signs in different places which were fun. Boat entrance for Brandon was a hit and gave him special moments to enter. I wrote individual/personal quotes on the back of each place card for all the guests – I wanted to make the elements personal and detail oriented. I wrote the wedding ceremony myself (with help from the internet) but I was able to make as personal as I wanted, adding in different types of wedding vows. Brandon loved his Old Fashioned barrel on the bar – one of his favorite drinks for him and friends/family to enjoy. We also got to bring our own alcohol – so we could pick an array of our favorites, including wine at dinner and about 12 craft beer types. And good tequila for tradtional tequila shots. I lovvvved my dress too.
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
Walking down the aisle to see Brandon was amazing. I had to catch my breath a few times not to start sobbing. I really loved dancing with our friends and family to our favorite songs – from the 90s & 2000s. Speeches from Matron of Honor, Best Man, and my dad.
Please describe your cake (if any):
It was supposed to be frosted bright pink/fuschia on the bottom tier to white ombre on the top tier, but the color didn’t seem to come out that way. Vanilla cake / Vanilla buttercream icing, natural wavy lines design. Top tier had raspberry filling. Mr. & Mrs. Schaefer cake topper which I also loved.

Any advice for those planning their wedding now?
Plan as much ahead of time as you can. Try to be “done” the week before, so that week you can enjoy the time with your family & friends.
Practical: Hire someone to set up & clean up afterwards. Use large tupperware/plastic bins to bring decor to the venue. Make to do lists for the entire wedding, then for the few weeks before. Make a packing list for the wedding.
Overall: Make the day your own – choose what YOU want and what will excite you. That’s what I most loved about the day. It was exactly what I wanted. Have your friends remind you to enjoy and breathe and that the tiny things don’t matter – you notice things no one else will. Let other people help you.
What was your biggest surprise on your wedding day?
How easy the day was. My bridesmaids kept reminding me to stay in the moment. and while it went SO fast, I really felt like I enjoyed it and stayed present. Another surprise was how many family & friends traveled to see us – most live out of state so it was a really big deal and we were so appreciative of that.
What one moment will last with you both forever?
Saying our personal vows to each other which we wrote. They ended up being similar themes.
Which moment are you the most excited to see in photos?
Kiss the bride / some of the shots of the two of us. candids of friends/family partying.
What song did you walk down the aisle to?
Perfect by Ed Sheerhan (Beyonce duet version)
What song played for your first dance?
All of Me – John Legend (we entered to the remix version and it transitioned to the slow).
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?
Life in general, trips together, enjoying our house, the deeper love that’s already started (even 8 years later), raising kids together.
What did you like the most about working with KV Photography?
They were incredibly great & professional – organized, directed us and everyone well, very efficient. Receptive to everything we wanted. Made us laugh and feel comfortable, which will make for better photos.
