How did you both meet?

We met at a wedding in Detroit of all places. I grew up in the Detroit area but I flew in from LA and Ali from Orlando. It was a quick first connection but Ali messaged me that night and we saw each other the next day and started talking on the phone for hours every day.

How was the proposal?

Ali proposed at a routine sunset on my dad’s dock. One of our first times getting to know each other, we spent the evening watching a Florida gulf coast sunset there and it had become a tradition. He planned a surprise with both of our families present and proposed as the sun disappeared below the horizon. 

What was your wedding inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc)

We wanted the wedding to be really fun for everyone. Amanda loves flowers and she put a lot of time and attention into our floral design, which was amazing thanks to our florist! We wanted it to have a certain level of drama and glam while still feeling really romantic. 

What was your favorite design element of your wedding?

Definitely our floral arrangements. 

Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them.

I loved our mirror aisle. Some of the arches that were incorporated were a nod to our Arab heritage. We had an inscription from the Quran placed on the arch that led into our ceremony. Our lounge spaces and the ceiling chandelier were elements of the reception that we really loved.  

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

For both of us, it was as soon as our Imam declared us husband and wife and our first kiss.

Any advice for those planning their wedding now?

Start early and get multiple quotes, especially if you’re having a big wedding. We used a QR code for our seating chart and it worked really well. It was a great option in terms of not having to worry about messing up a pretty seating chart design with last minute seating changes. 

What was your biggest surprise on your wedding day?

How much energy we both managed to have. We were afraid to be too tired at the end of the night to enjoy the last moments of partying with our friends and family but we even had everyone up to our suite for an after party!

What one moment will last with you both forever?

The feeling of exiting our ceremony being surrounded by our family and friends who were so filled with love and joy.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

Getting to become parents and getting to experience all of life’s ups and downs together.
