How did you both meet?

I studied abroad in Prague in 2014, and my roommate turned out to be Stephen’s sister, Anna. She and I stayed friends after college and kept in touch and would visit each other. While living in Denver in 2016, Anna suggested moving to Orlando, since my time in Denver was coming to an end, so I did it! Anna suggested I should meet her brother, since he was also moving back to Orlando in the next year. She gave our numbers to each other, and we scheduled to hang out within a few days of texting one another. After hanging out three times as friends, we realized we had an amazing connection. And the rest is history!

How did your husband propose?

On New Year’s Eve 2019 Stephen scheduled a special dinner evening at Narcoosee’s at the Grand Floridian. I had always asked to not be proposed to at dinner because I wanted the moment to be intimate between us. After the first course, the firework show for Magical Kindgom started. When we stepped outside to watch it, he pulled me off to the side, away from the crowd of people. As I was watching the show, I felt a tap on my leg and looked down to him on one knee! He forgot everything he was going to say, but he mustered out the words “Will you marry me? And oh, I love you!” with a big grin on his face. I immediately said “Yes!”.  It was a moment just for us and it was absolutely perfect!

What was your wedding inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc.)

I wanted our wedding to be romantic and timeless but also unique. The color palette was all neutral with several shades of whites along with natural greenery paired with champagne, gold, and black. We love florals, so that was a big detail for me. The heavy florals that cascaded the tables, accented by candles of various heights really brought that enchanted feeling to life! All the columns were draped to create an intimate feeling in the room. That, paired with the canvas lights hanging from the chandelier, pulled every detail together. Everything turned out absolutely perfect!

What was your favorite design element of your wedding?

It’s a tie! Between the florals and canvas lights! I can’t decide which I loved more. They were both such important elements to the wedding that really brought the romantic element to life!

Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them?

We both wanted the wedding to be a unique event for our guests. We had an oyster bar, confetti, violinists, a magician, and a cigar roller. The cigar roller was the most enjoyed by guests though. I joke that at one point, I looked around the room and saw no men. We went out to the cigar patio that would usually fit 10-15 people comfortably, and there were 40 people out there having a great time! As much of a special day that it was for us, I wanted it to be special for our friends and family too.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

The most memorable moment was when our amazing planner, Annie Nuno, pulled Stephen and I aside to do our first look of the ballroom. She had us close our eyes, for when we walked in to really make it a surprise. The first look was so special! My second favorite moment was the last hour of the wedding. Stephen and I were dancing, and he just stops me to take it all in for a moment. He said “Laurel, can you believe today is almost over”, and he smiled and gave me a kiss and called me his wife. The day went by so quickly, but those little moments really made it so memorable.

Please describe your cake (if any):

Our cake was beautiful! It was a 4-tier all white cake. The bottom tier had a beautiful texture that included lines, swirls, and pearls. The two middle tiers had a lace stenciled on it, and the top tier was a smooth, white tier. Two floral clusters were accented on opposite side at two different heights.

Any advice for those planning their wedding now?

Get a wedding planner! Literally such a lifesaver. Make sure you two are on the same page and get along well! I loved mine! She was literally everything I could’ve asked for and more! Every detail she covered. On the day of, I have never seen someone work so hard. She ran around to make sure the day went seamlessly.

What was your biggest surprise on your wedding day?

Honestly, no surprises! It was a perfect day that went exactly how we planned it. It was beautiful, and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

What one moment will last with you both forever?

Our first dance. We had been rehearsing for two months! It is something we will never forget. We randomly still do our dance every now and then, and we still remember every step!

What song did you walk down the aisle to?

Love is a Choice by Kris Bowers.

What song played for your first dance?

Like Real People Do by Hozier.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

Just knowing that we get to spend every day with our best friend by our side. A lifetime of memories is only front of us!

What did you like the most about working with KV Photography?

They are so easy going! They make you feel like family, and you always have a great time with them. Their photos speak for themselves! They are truly a work of art! Multiple guests said to us how much they enjoyed them! Our guests said that KV got all the moments that needed to be captured, but they never felt like a camera was right in their face.
