Sandals South Coast Jamaica Wedding | Liza and Richard
1. How did you both meet?
Richard & I met through mutual
friends during our sophomore year of college.
2. How did your husband propose?
Richard proposed in the spring while we
were on vacation in Destin Beach, Florida.
3. What was your wedding
inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc)
We are big beach people! In college we spent
almost every weekend at the beach, we got engaged at the beach and so a beach
wedding just felt right. We wanted our wedding theme to be simple but at the
same time wanted there to be bright colors being that we were planning an
island wedding. We wanted to be right on the beach- hearing the waves and feel
the sand on our special day. We wanted a casual and intimate wedding with very
close family and friends (who we consider to be family) to share the day with.
4. What was your favorite design
element of your wedding?
Our favorite design element of the wedding were the actual locations of the ceremony (an over the water chapel) and the reception (on the sand just feet from the water).
5. Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them.
Looking back one of our favorite wedding details was the polaroid camera. Although the camera was out for the guest book, it made its way around the wedding through the night and we got some pretty epic pictures from our guests.
6. What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
The most memorable moment of our wedding day was when my dad gave me away and said “Good Luck” to Richard. That was the first of many group laughs that day. Everyone knows my dad’s sense of humor and I’m glad that it showed on my wedding day. That humor continued through the blessing and father of the bride speech!! Plus, Richard will need that extra luck to deal with me forever ;).
7. Please describe your cake (if any):
Our cake was very simple- a two tier cake with white fondant, a colorful ribbon around the tiers and a flower from our theme on top. There were two flavors- chocolate cake with pina colada filling and vanilla cake with strawberry daiquiri filling.
8. Can you please list your vendors:
Photographers: KV Photography. Everything else for our wedding was provided through Sandals (South Coast Resort in Jamaica).
9. Any advice for those planning their wedding now?
Our advice for those planning their wedding is to chose and plan your wedding around what is important to you and your partner. Try not to chose things or use ideas just because someone else thinks it is important or someone else thinks that it should be included- its your day!.
10. What was your biggest surprise on your wedding day?
Haha! The biggest surprise on our wedding day was the power to the city going out about halfway through our reception!! It was quite a shock and once we realized it wasn’t turning back on anytime soon, the bridal party and the Sandals bartenders became superheroes. They found a wireless speaker and we kept the party going. In all honesty, our party probably turned out more fun this way!!.
11.
What one moment will last with you both forever?
The moment that will last with
us forever will be when we read our wedding vows to each other. We
chose to do that in private opposed to in front of our guests during
the ceremony After we finished taking photos and our bridal party
went to the cocktail hour, we took a moment to ourselves to take in the
fact that we just got MARRIED and read our vows to each other. It was very
special to have that moment to ourselves.
12. Which moment are you the most
excited to see in photos?
We are so excited to see the ceremony
pictures. That part seems like a blur looking back because of all the
excitement!.
13. What song did you walk down the
aisle to?
I walked down the isle to Ave Maria.
14. What song played for your first
dance?
Our first dance song
was “Better Place” by Rachel Platten.
15. What are you most looking forward
to as a married couple?
We are just looking forward to all of the adventures that we will have together- whether those are overseas on a vacation, relaxing on a beach or just day to day life!.
16. What did you like the most about working with KV Photography?
Oh wow, where do we even start?! From the moment we FaceTimed to meet (since we are in Texas) Ed & Val we so down to earth and easy to get to know. I knew during that call that these were our photographers. During our engagement shoot (which was the first professional shoot either of us had done) Ed & Val made us feel so comfortable so we could get great photos! They came ALL the way to Jamaica, which I was so thankful for! While there it honestly felt like we had two extra friends who happened to have cameras. They met with us during our wedding walkthrough and talked through the plan for the day of and made sure that all of my requests were fulfilled! I never felt like I was a bother to ask for a silly picture! Having Ed & Val at our wedding was easily the best decision we made!.
