How did you both meet?
We met through working in the hotel industry–we coincidentally had worked in some of the same hotels, with a large number of mutual contacts, and just kept missed each other- I would work in hotels and hear such glowing things about him.  And finally, our paths crossed while I was working in Sales and Marketing for Universal!

How did your husband propose?
I nudged Grant for such a long time!!! I remember we had plans to take a return trip to St. Augustine – where we had first vacationed together when we started dating.  We were planning on leaving after I got off work in the evening, but my Director, during a hugely busy day, told me he needed to let me go and enjoy vacation early.   Grant and I were able to get to our favorite seafood restaurant for dinner by sunset, and after dinner he proposed on the marina at Fort Castillo de San Marcos where we shared some of our first vacation memories together!  When I returned to work after our weekend getaway, I found out many of my Directors had already known prior of Grant’s plans to propose – so the thought that he had reached out to my coworkers to help him with the secret proposal was just…well shucks.  Pure joy.

What was your wedding inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc)
We wanted to go with a clean bohemian type feel, while also incorporating rich seasonal colors and some beige and ivory neutrals.  The rich colors of masala and maroon, with hints of eucalyptus green, blush, cranberry and cream were just perfect.

What was your favorite design element of your wedding?
My ring – the diamond is from Grant’s grandmother’s wedding ring.  Grant had it custom set in a beautiful infinity ring setting from a designer in NY, and the thoughtfulness he put into it was so sincere!

Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them.
We wanted to offer our guests favors that were representative of us, but also something that would be put to good use.  We thought handmade organic soaps would be a great idea, so I found this wonderful vendor on Etsy, and it just so happened to be that her shop was based in Grant’s hometown in Louisiana- and that she had attended high school with Grant’s mom in Lafayette!  Having these handmade soaps was so special because it was almost like our guests could take a piece of Grant’s roots home with them– we just really wanted to share our cultures with our guests in every way we could.

We also LOVE our German Shepherd Akita rescue dog, AJ!! One of my favorite things was thinking about how to incorporate him into our day.  In addition to offering soap favors, we also offered dog treat favors in kraft goodie bags, that were sealed with a clothespin, and had a printed graphite sketch of AJ’s German Shepherd face on the front.   We had a wooden sign that read “From Our Pup to Yours,” alongside a wooden framed photo of AJ, and each treat bag said “Love is a Four Legged Word” – they were a big hit for our pooch loving friends out there

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
The first look, first dance, father of the bride’s speech, sparkler exit…..all of it!.

Please describe your cake (if any):
Our cake was a four tiered cake designed by Party Flavors– it had ivory swirl detailing, cream ribboning on layers, and simple blush colored cake flowers. Each tier was a different cake and filling flavor on the inside, so it was great to offer a variety of tastes!

Any advice for those planning their wedding now?
Enjoy engagement and enjoy the process!  You will only do it once, so you don’t want to look back thinking you were too stressed to enjoy being engaged and growing with your partner!  Also…if you are in Florida during hurricane season, spend just a little extra time creating a plan about how you would dress up your weather backup.

What was your biggest surprise on your wedding day?
Surprising Grant with his LSU crawfish bowl Groom’s Cake was a lot of fun.  He normally does not like surprises, and after we cut the wedding cake, and the DJ announced that I had a surprise for him, Grant gave me this look like……what kind of dance….did you just sign us up for….. But watching him let out the biggest laugh when he saw the Groom’s cake roll out was just so funny!

What one moment will last with you both forever?
Our vows. 🙂

Which moment are you the most excited to see in photos?
The first look!!  It makes my heart full to relive that moment we looked at each other and knew we are both about to dive into the rest of our life together.  The raw emotion and pure joy is so sentimental and sincere.  The reception photos were also fantastic!!   It was so great to see some of these hilarious moments and priceless faces on the dancefloor captured on camera!  I swear we will never stop getting a kick out of these photos for years.  Our family and friends are pretty DANG FUN!!!!

What song did you walk down the aisle to?
Canon in D

What song played for your first dance?
All of Me – slow reggae remix by Jah Cure.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?
Traveling as husband and wife, and continuing to laugh at each other’s quirks every day!

What did you like the most about working with KV Photography?
The support, communication, and good moral values.  When our wedding was over, I kept saying to Grant thinking about our catering manager and other vendors, thinking my Gosh it must be so much pressure to deliver perfection when you are bestowed with the most important day of someone’s life…making sure it goes flawlessly, and it’s captured exactly how the client wants it.  However, working with KV was so great because it felt as if they didn’t even feel any of that pressure and they were just so focused on making sure we were enjoying ourselves, while capturing raw emotion and natural moments that last a lifetime.  We loved their energy and humor–Grant was so nervous the day of the wedding, that he forgot to put inserts in his shoes, and realized pretty last minute that he forgot how to tie a tie.  Ed was there to help him, ease his nerves, and make him laugh through it.  And when the ladies were getting ready, Val was so patient with all of the outfit changes and makeup touchups- a true saint!!
