How did you both meet?

Michael & I met 9 years ago at a bar in Ft Lauderdale named Dicey Rileys. I was living in Florida for almost a year and Michael had been living here for a few months. He was working with one of my friends from college so he knew some of my friends very well. We happened to both be meeting up with our friend Sean one night…and that’s where our relationship started!

How did your husband propose?

We went to the Ice Cream Museum in Miami with some friends. Before going to the museum, we met them for dinner at a restaurant named Crazy About You. Later on, it started to rain as were walking to get to the restaurant, so I had my jacket over my head and was about to start running when he stopped me. I was thinking, why is he stopping me for? It’s raining!” But I realized what was happening! After that, he proposed, and I said yes! Then, we went into the restaurant where all of our close friends and both of our parents joined us for dinner! As it turns out, they watched the whole thing!

What was your wedding inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc.)

I am obsessed with hexagons, so we used that shape in a lot of our decor, to give it a more modern feel. In addition, we also wanted it to feel elegant, which we tried to portray with the gold accents that we added to the blue color scheme.

What was your favorite design element of your wedding?

My favorite design element is the logo that I designed for us. We used it on our invitations, programs, cake, and we even had our lighting guy project it onto the wall outside.

Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them.

My two favorite details were the hexagon wedding arch that we used for our Ceremony, as well as the hedge wall where we hung our place cards. These were so special because the arch was made by our friend Austin, and the hedge wall was a project that Mike and I built together!

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

It’s really hard to pick one moment in particular. It is an amazing feeling having everyone you love in one place and knowing that they were there to celebrate us! We did enjoy surprising everyone with our coordinated first dance!

Please describe your cake (if any):

It was a 3-tiered cake that matched our wedding colors (blue and gold). It had our logo on the front made out of sugar!

Any advice for those planning their wedding now?

I definitely recommend booking as many vendors as possible in the beginning of your planning process, because at some point you will lose steam! In other words, this will leave you time to focus on all the little details as your big day gets closer.

What was your biggest surprise on your wedding day?

Receiving the shirt from Mike’s Aunt and Sister with my number in the family. His Grandmother is usually the one to present the shirt but she was unable to travel. I assumed I would get the shirt the next time I saw her, so it was an unexpected surprise to receive it on the wedding day!

What one moment will last with you both forever?

It is definitely impossible for us to pick one moment! The whole wedding was everything we dreamt it would be!

What song did you walk down the aisle to?

Christina Perri – A Thousand Years, played on the violin by one of my Bridesmaids.

What song played for your first dance?

You Are the Best Thing – Ray LaMontagne

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

Our honeymoon to Italy in May!!

What did you like the most about working with KV Photography?

Absolutely everything!! We felt so comfortable with you guys right from the start and that was something important that we were looking for in a photographer. Moreover, we really hope to be able to keep in touch with you both in the future!
