How did you both meet?

We met at our first weekend at Florida State University through mutual friends.

How did your husband propose?

He worked with my family and his family to set up a fake birthday celebration for me, which coincides with Valentine’s Day, while he was out of town on a work trip. Then, he left his work trip early and as I showed up for the birthday party, he came around the corner and surprised me in front of our families.

What was your wedding inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc.)

We wanted an inclusive atmosphere filled with friends and families from all stages of our lives. Also, we wanted our guests to let loose and celebrate. For our decor we went with earth tones; blues and greens as our main and pops of linen and gold.

What was your favorite design element of your wedding?

One of my favorite elements was our floral arrangement that was our backdrop for the wedding ceremony and the sweetheart table.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

One of the most memorable moments was our final dance where it was just the two of us jumping around and dancing to close out the night.

Please describe your cake (if any):

We got a 3-tier cake. The first flavor was carrot cake. We also had lemon and raspberry cake with blackberry basil filling, and the lemon curd cake. The outside was a simple white frosting with outlines of greenery that matched our invitations.

Any advice for those planning their wedding now?

Time moves faster than you think. Stick to the checklist provided by your planner or create one yourself. Book an hour or two once a week to stay on top of things.

What was your biggest surprise on your wedding day?

The temporary face tattoo of Jon on Katie’s leg.

What one moment will last with you both forever?

Finally seeing each other for the first time that day.

What song did you walk down the aisle to?

Simply the Best.

What song played for your first dance?

Magic – VINCINT.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

After 10 years of dating, we are looking forward to seeing what 10 years of marriage will bring.

What did you like the most about working with KV Photography?

We loved how easy it was to talk to Val and Ed from our initial phone call. When they showed up on site on the wedding day, it felt like they were already close friends, fitting right in which helped lessen the nerves. They also made taking pictures seamless. Sometimes we can be a little awkward in photos, but Val and Ed kept the flow of everything very candid and natural, which made it easy to keep smiling the whole day.
