How did you both meet?

We met on a night out in Newcastle, England. He would say I put the moves on him first, which I did! I thought he had a slight resemblance to my celebrity crush at the time, Zac Efron. A few wise chat-up lines said by Liam, and exchanged phone numbers, lead to what Liam would describe as the longest chase of a girl by a boy in history. Fast forward 3 years, after many exchanged text messages and my trip to Newcastle in Liam’s final school year, we realized there was more to our relationship than just friends. Liam travelled to Belfast a month later for my Granny’s birthday, where he finally met my family, and we’ve been together ever since. We moved to London for 3 three years before settling in our first home in Leeds.

How did your husband propose?

Liam proposed during a trip to Bali in 2017, in beautiful Nusa Lembongan Island. We went for a romantic meal on a stunning restaurant, right on the beachfront, the Sandy Bay Beach Club. It was a lovely meal, and as we were leaving, I went to the bathroom and came back to find Liam standing in a courtyard at the entrance. He was under a tree that had fairy lights around it. I was about to walk by when he pulled me back, got down on one knee and said, ‘You know I love you don’t you? Will you marry me?” I was in complete shock, and never thought it would happen whilst away. I jumped into his arms hugging him, forgetting to actually say yes, but of course I did!

What was your wedding inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc.)

Romantic, floral, chic, carefree and relaxed. Summery vibes but with the sunset and delicate lighting adding a fairy-tale feel. String lighting, sparklers and bubbles made it feel magical in the evening. A floral setting of soft hues; blush and rose pink, greenery, rose gold and white flowers along with vintage gold candles and table settings completed the romantic but carefree boho-esque theme.

What was your favorite design element of your wedding?

It’s hard to pinpoint one favorite design element as all the individual elements of the wedding, from the outdoor ceremony to the pool reception, to the meal, to the evening celebrations under fairy lights; all of those gave our wedding the romantic summery feel we wanted. The setting and beautiful surroundings with views across the Tuscan hills made it even more dreamlike and so special.

Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them.

I loved how we planned the flow of the wedding across various areas of our venue so that each event, like the reception by the pool or the evening celebrations under fairy lights on the villa terrace, were all a surprise for our guests. Each little bit had its own personal touches. From the table setting with fun games and sunglasses for the children, the polaroid guestbook and the sparklers and bubbles in the evening, along with the donut wall, sweetie cart, gin bar and ice-cream cart. All of these little touches added that extra surprise for our guests so that each one of them, no matter what age, from my 1-year old nieces to my granny, enjoyed the whole day.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

It is difficult to signify one highlight or detail as the whole day was truly amazing. But, a very unexpected moment towards the end of the night was when we jumped into the pool in our wedding attire joined by some of our guests – an incredibly spontaneous and funny way to end a magical day! A bonus for me was that it helped cleaned my dress a little! Meeting each other at the altar, the speeches, evening celebrations, cutting the cake, dancing as husband and wife to our first dance, every moment was special!

Please describe your cake (if any):

We had a lovely lemon-flavored cake made by our venue. It had 3 tiers and with cream frosting all over and floral décor, provided by our florist, to wrap around each layer. We loved it and it was so tasty! One of the best cakes I’ve ever tried!

Any advice for those planning their wedding now?

Have fun and dare to do things you might think won’t work. Being abroad made it difficult to get suppliers but we found ways of finding them. It added the extra touches to surprise our guests. No detail is too small, and people will remember the effort you put in. At the end of the day, just remember to enjoy yourself and relax, have moments out of the day with your new husband/wife and just look around and take it all in. Have fun no matter what and it will all be a dream come true for you. It is yours and your new partners day so focus on this time and it will be everything you imagined and more, as ours was!

What was your biggest surprise on your wedding day?

Not so much a surprise but ending up in the pool in my wedding dress with Liam and some of our guests at the end of the night was something we hadn’t planned but was so much fun! I am so glad it was captured on camera.

What one moment will last with you both forever?

The whole day was magical and more than what we had ever dreamed possible, we had the ultimate time of our lives!

What song did you walk down the aisle to?

Pachelbel – Canon in D

What song played for your first dance?

Calum Scott & Leona Lewis – You Are The Reason

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

Short-term would be our honeymoon around Italy enjoying more of the romantic vibes of the country we got married in. Seeing the fabulous sights and of course enjoying the delicious food and wine Italy has to offer. But long-term, our dreams to start a family.

What did you like the most about working with KV Photography?

We loved how easy they were to get along with and how relaxed they made us feel. After meeting them in New York for our engagement session, and seeing the incredible shots they took, we knew we could trust them fully to capture our wedding in the best way! Secondly, they knew how to get the best photos and made us and all our guests feel so at ease, capturing the day so discreetly. They made taking the photos fun, I can remember laughing a lot! They became guests at our wedding and not just our photographers. To have them with us for 3 days capturing our wedding weekend was something we are so thankful for! Putting together our photo albums brought us back there. We have amazing photos that we will cherish forever but also new friends in Val and Ed! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
