Epcot Engagement Session | Lexi and Aaron | Orlando Photographers
It was May 18th, 2010 and the cafeteria at Disney University was brimming with excitement from new Cast Members ready for their first day of training at Walt Disney World known as Traditions. A particularly chatty blonde girl named Lexi asked everyone around her where they were going to be working. Suddenly, she heard someone down the table say that they were going to be working at Epcot. She immediately went over to introduce herself to the charming young man named Aaron, because this was the first person she had met that day that was also going to be working at Epcot. He smiled at her and when they all finally went upstairs to the classroom they sat down together at the same table. Of course the facilitators asked for everyone to move and sit next to people we hadn’t met yet, but that didn’t stop Aaron from talking to Lexi throughout the day. The facilitators said, “You will make relationships here that last a lifetime. You never know, today you may meet your future best friend, husband or wife.” Aaron asked for Lexi’s number before the day was over and something beautiful had started. Almost six years later, the prophecy foretold in the class was becoming true when Aaron asked his best friend Lexi to become his wife.
Told from Lexi’s Perspective:
After a lot of madness, we were finally going on our cruise aboard the Disney Dream just days before Christmas. We entered the atrium and were greeted with beautiful Christmas decorations. We went up to our stateroom and I went out onto the balcony to enjoy the view. Aaron told me that he had forgotten something and asked me to wait on the balcony but not to look. About a minute later he said I needed to close my eyes because he had a surprise for me in our room. I closed my eyes as he led me back into our stateroom. When I opened my eyes, I was shocked to see my mom, five younger sisters and grandparents standing in our room. I couldn’t believe that they were going on the cruise with us! It was a complete surprise! Aaron also surprised me with reservations at Palo, the signature Italian restaurant for our first evening. Dinner was fantastic, but unfortunately I fell ill with sea sickness. My mom even had to come up to give me some medicine.
After dinner, Aaron suggested that walking around outside may help me to feel better, but as soon as we got outside it started to rain. He led me up the Outlook, which is a small room that is the tallest point on the ship that is accessible to Guests. He said we should wait out the rain here. I was confused but happy to sit down. I made myself comfortable enough that I pretty much fell asleep. As I was lying there, I heard a knock on the door and Aaron told me to wake up and look who it was. Captain Mickey Mouse was standing there ready to greet us! I popped up as fast as I could to meet him. Mickey had a gentleman with him who asked us about ourselves such as how we met and how long we had been together. When I told them over 4 years, Mickey whispered in Aaron’s ear. Aaron replied to Mickey saying, “You know what Mickey I think you’re right, it is time!” Aaron got down on one knee and told me that he loved the life we had built together and wanted to spend the rest of our lives going on adventures together. He presented me with the most beautiful ring which I later found he custom designed to have Hidden Mickey’s on it. I said yes and Mickey was there to celebrate with us!
